The Women's Missionary Society

aka WMS

Our purpose is to be a source of support and help to the missions departments, both home and world missions. We also support Christian education, camp meeting, and child evangelism. We encourage prayer, good missionary reading, and regular giving.

Read the latest WMS News!

Pick up your copy of the Fall 2012 issue of "The Missionary" at your local Bible Methodist Church. It carries exciting missionary happenings!

  • Our new missionaries took a fact-finding trip in August to the country to which they believe God has lead them. Now they are deciding on housing, language schools, etc and determining how best to be Jesus among the people of that culture. Photos are in the newsletter.
  • The "big one" got away from Lela Crawford but Biblical truth "hooked" her!
  • Principal Jenny Crotts updates us about the opening days of the 2012-2013 school year at Bible Methodist Christian School.
  • WMS groups across the conference are busy ministering. Notice how many potential members have arrived in our churches!
  • Through the Peggy Bragg Memorial Fund and the Copeland Memorial Fund, several tools for learning and outreach have been provided to help our Mexican brothers and sisters minister more effectively. Photos are in the newsletter.
  • God is blessing Ada Chapel as they are working in their "Jerusalem"!

Meet the WMS Executive Officers!

L to R: WMS Treasurer, Connie Unger; WMS President, Lela Crawford; WMS Vice Presient, Sue Fleming; WMS Secretary, Karen Blankenship; Children's Missionary Band Superintendent, Holly Walker

In the Fall 2011 issue of "The Missionary," the WMS newsletter, each of the executive officers introduce themselves. If you aren't yet acquainted with these ladies, this is your opportunity!

Also in the newsletter are reports of inspiring outreach and support activities by the various societies across our conference.

Don't miss the feature, Kids with a Heart for Missions. In 1 Timothy 4:12, the Apostle Paul told young Timothy, "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." The featured young people are indeed being a challenging example. Read the feature to learn how you can partner with them!

Last, but certainly not least, rejoice with the Tarrant church as you read Sue Fleming's report on what God accomplished through their cooperative efforts.

Did you get a chance to read the Winter 2012 issue of "The Missionary"? You can still read it "cover to cover" so you don't miss any of the action!

  • Lela Crawford has pledged to "grab a surfboard." True!
  • Sue Fleming reports FOUR answers to prayer! She's waiting to hear about answers to your prayers.
  • Catch up on what's happening in the WMSs across the conference.
  • From Missionary Steve Stetler, you will learn how a hearse gets through customs at the border of Mexico!
  • You'll smile when you read how the Young Missionaries of the Tarrant CMB confused their neighborhood in October.
  • Rejoice in the progress made on special projects!

Here's the Spring 2012 edition of "The Missionary." Every inch is filled with missionary action!

  • R.G. Hutchison, missionary in the Philippines, experienced a "conspicuous" moment. (pssst... you would have too!!)
  • The WMSs are "git'n 'er done"! It's amazing to think about how many people are impacted altogether simply by each WMS doing what they can where they are.
  • Lela Crawford is making connections--you can too!
  • Easley and Chattanooga First are praising God for answers to prayer. Be blessed!
  • The Young Missionaries of the Talladega CMB rode into the Sunset (Inn) to spread the Gospel.
  • What was the slogan in the phone books, "Let your fingers do the walking"? For the special projects in the Philippines and Mexico, let your dollars do the walking. You might not be able to go to the Philippines or Mexico, but your dollars can!

Perhaps you were busy and missed the Summer 2012 edition of "The Missionary".

  • Visit the highlands of Mexico with Steve Stetler!
  • Walk down Memory Lane with Lela Crawford as she reminisces about camp meetings of yesteryear.
  • Discover how God is reaching out through His people at Golden Grove and Cordele.
  • Catch up on what's happening with other WMS members.
  • And don't miss what musical instrument(s) the kids at Glencoe are learning and using to bless others!
  • P.S. Did you hear who was awarded the 2012 Ruby Agan Memorial Scholarship?
